Preparation for the "World Smile Day"

Today we have made stickers for the "World Smile Day" :) First of all we chose a "smile picture"- that is how we practice our selective skills, if it can me said in that way, after that we have printed it out and then we painted them in different colors :) there were pink, yellow, green and so on. It was so fun, but I can't deny that it also was hard to paint them right. We are perfectionists so we tried to make them perfect :) I hope that tomorrow the other students from my school will like them and when they see us and the surprise we have prepared, they will smile :)

I want to be perfect tomorrow morning, because I love smiling and if I can say the Smile Day may become one of my favorite days :) that is why I found some information about this day so I can tell it to the other students tomorrow so they will be more informed about it :) in fact the story is so interesting and I am sure that they will like it. Here it is......

The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. Harvey Ball is known to have created the Smiley Face in 1963.The World's first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.

After Harvey died in 2001, the "Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation" was created to honour his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is "improving this world, one smile at a time." The Foundation continues as the official sponsor of World Smile Day each year.

The message of the World Smile Day 2010 is "Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile."


:) :) :) In my opinion nowadays we all need to be more positive and there should be more people like Harvey Ball and more events like World Smile Day :)
